Out of hours cover for emergencies is provided by the Burton Doctors On-Call co-operative called BURDOC and the Staffordshire Ambulance Service. Doctors are based at Cross Street clinic (click here for a map) and are available from 6 p.m. until 11.30 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. until 11.30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. Patients are requested to ring the emergency number to make an appointment to be seen the same day. Patients who are too unwell to leave their homes will receive a visit from the Staffordshire Ambulance Service. After 11.30 p.m. the service is taken over entirely by the Staffordshire Ambulance Service. The paramedics involved in this service are able to refer to doctors at the Staffordshire Ambulance Service base for advice.
